DEVELOPMENT OF A MODULAR REFINERY IN GUINEA
We are currently establishing a 12,000 barrel per day modular crude oil refinery plant in the Republic of Guinea on the basis of a full-fledged techno-economic feasibility study. The output of the refinery shall meet a growing demand for refined products expected to develop from a major expansion of the mining industry as well as the urbanization during the decade ahead.
ABOUT SRG
Société de Raffinage Guinéenne S.A or SRG S.A has been registered in Guinea since December 2011 under registration number RCCM/GC-KAL/037.767A/2011. We are developing a project to build and operate an oil refinery in the Kamsar region, in the Republic of Guinea. SRG is led by a local and foreign team with long-lasting experience in the areas of Oil & Gas, mainly in engineering, refining and trading, with backgrounds and profound track-records in Finance and Oil & Gas related projects.
THE BENEFITS OF AN OIL REFINERY IN GUINEA
Crude oil transformation into petroleum finished products has never been carried out in Guinea before. SRG will be the first industry to convert crude oil into finished products. These products will complement those of the current national supply that is made by ship trough the international markets.
The benefits of our refinery are:
• Securing part of the country’s supply in petroleum products
• Improving the supply of petroleum products over the territory
• 2000 direct jobs will be created during the construction phase
• 200 direct jobs will be created during the commercial phase
OUR REFINERY
Our refinery will be located in the sub-prefecture of Kamsar (Kasmagourou) located 300 km from the capital Conakry. It will have a production capacity of 12 000 barrels per day (ca. 500 000 tons). This modular crude refinery will convert crude oil into the below product slate:
- Gasoil (fuel obtained from petroleum distillation that is used in diesel engines)
- Kerosene (fuel obtained from petroleum distillation that is used for aviation)
- Gasoline (Benzene/ Gasoline being use for automotive)
- Fuel Oil (is heavy low-quality fuel oil used to generate electricity).
Being the most important country of Africa extracting Bauxite, the Kamsar port enjoys the traffic related to it. For instance, a specific cargo class has been built, the Kamsarmax.
Already busy with new works in progress from Guinea Alumina and in majority managed by CBG, the port of Kamsar is the ideal location to establish the refinery.
